Curtis Rhodes Photographer     The joys and challenges of planning your wedding are upon you .... you have set a date, nailed down your venues, and now you are looking for photography. Style - content ... photojournalistic - traditional - color - black and white ... so many possibilities. You are bringing together the people who have shaped you...your families and close friends. Who do you trust to take the most important photographs of your lives?

Curtis Rhodes Photographer     You need a photographer who can capture images that sing with intimacy and spontaneity. Images that go beyond just recording an event; that reveal its story ... weaving together the emotions, gestures and smiles of all the characters into one masterful tapestry. A complete coverage that can be achieved with a sense of reality and time and place - but being careful not to rely on only the photo-documentary style, which allows you a lot of spontaneity but can also lack scope. To truly capture all the emotions and fleeting moments of the day you need a broader approach.

Curtis Rhodes Photographer     Our style incorporates the warmth and intimacy of good portraiture as well as the spontaneity and truth of good photojournalism. We use a combination of photographic styles that blend together to give a sense of the whole wedding day. We always do some portrait-style photos of the people involved ... that's very important. But letting something real happen in the course of taking these photos adds another very rich dimension. The two of us work to capture different visual and emotional perspectives.

Curtis Rhodes Photographer     For example, while I am photographing the portraits, Vickie might be taking candids of the people watching or interacting on the sidelines. Both of us are always looking for the little moments that happen in between. We try to make the whole portrait session more of an experience, an extension of the festivities - rather than a "sitting."

Curtis Rhodes Photographer     We take scene setting pictures, which show what everything looks and feels like before the guests arrive. The flowers, the place settings, the room it all happens in. Once the room fills with guests, it tends to get lost in the photos, so its important to capture. We also take "story" pictures, which document what is happening - dancing, cake cutting, interactions with guests. These shots give a sense of the fun people are having, the emotions.

Of course, each wedding album is designed individually - how much color, how much black and white, style of album .... everyone wants something different and we look at each wedding as unique. The bottom line is that the photos must convey a story and a feeling as individual as you are.
